OGFC MEMBERSHIPS PUSH INTO TRIPLE FIGURES
Another week has passed since our most recent update to the database and uncertainty still remains as to how the 2020 VAFA season will play out, if at all.
Encouragingly, our players have returned to the training track this week.......albeit in a restricted environment in groups of 10 with no contact. Next week, we will be lifting training groups to 20 and we will await further updates from Dan Andrews and the VAFA before progressing any further.
The VAFA released another update to clubs yesterday evening and have committed to making a formal annoucnement re the 2020 season in the week commencing 22nd June. Assumign they are satisfied by this time with the following criteria:
o Confirmation of Return to Play (“RTP”) protocols
o Insurance costs and associated coverage
o Confirmation of crowd numbers and safety protocols
then we expect the VAFA will aim to start an abreviated 9-round season on the weekend of July 25 (again, assuming approval is given in line with Government restrictions).
So, we have every reason to be optimistic that football will be played at VAFA level shortly.
We are extremely thankful for the support we have received from our membership base during these challenging times. This week, we have brought up the ton with memberhsips pushing into triple figures. We are still well down on previous years and encourage those that have not renewed or signed up as a member in 2020 to do so prior to the end of this month. With our regular Pivot Lunches in doubt for this year, we have decided to make 100% of all memberships and donations tax-deductible.
Thanks to those that have already signed up in 2020:
