Crowd Behaviour Reminder: A Message from the VAFA

Please read the message below from General Manager Football & Umpire Operations, Brian Goodman, about crowd behaviour at VAFA matches.

Good Afternoon

Over the past 2 weekends we have encountered some poor sportsmanship from supporters especially from those supporters that gather behind the goal area.

The extreme bad language, derogatory and insulting comments directed at opposition players and at times umpires is bringing our game into disrepute and is a blight on the VAFA competition.

I am requesting that all clubs participating in finals over the next 2 weekends communicate with all your supporter base via all means (Facebook, Twitter, Website, etc) to remind them of the VAFA Code of Conduct for supporters which can be read via this link;

Please Note: Duty Officers, security staff and umpires will report all poor behaviour to the VAFA and may result in people being removed from the ground and subsequent consequences for the club.

The VAFA has always been a great way for supporters, families and the general public to witness what a great competition we are all a part of and this sort of unsavoury behaviour can and will tarnish the brand and reputation of our clubs and the VAFA.

We cannot allow this to continue so please take responsibility and inform all of your supporters to cease from this sort of behaviour.

The VAFA appreciate your clubs support with this very important matter.
