SECONDBITE (2013-Present)

Our SecondBite drives involve a group of players converging on the aftermath of the South Melbourne markets on Sunday afternoons to collect as much fresh produce that would have otherwise gone to waste. In doing so, the boys help fill the Secondbite vans with plenty of healthy fruit and vegetables that make their way to help various areas of the local community.

SecondBite redistributes surplus fresh food to community food programs around Australia. Food is donated by farmers, wholesalers, markets, supermarkets, caterers and events. This high-quality surplus food is redistributed to community food programs that support people who are homeless, women and families in crisis, youth at risk, indigenous communities, asylum seekers and new arrivals. SecondBite has an established research team that is committed to furthering our understanding of food insecurity in Australia, and we continue to develop programs that provide long-term preventative solutions to the issue of food insecurity in Australia.
