Senior Leadership Group announced
The Senior men's football Leadership Group was recently announced prior to our round 1 game against Old Mentonians, after a vote from all players at the Club.
We are excited to announce that the Senior side and Club will be led by new Captain George Burbury, flanked by Co Vice-Captains Callum Wood and Josh Hoevenaars, as well as Rupert Kemp, Tom Balcombe and Scott Dixon.
George takes over the captaincy reins from Andy Leahy who steps down from the position after two years and having led the Club to a Senior premiership in 2016. George joined the Club at the beginning of 2016, and from the start showed his leadership qualities on and off the field. Having played at the highest level, George brings great experience to the Club, and continually demands the best from the playing group.
Cal Wood retains his position as Co Vice Captain for the third year. He joined the Club in 2009 and played his 150th game in round 1. He is a five-time leading goal kicker, and has plenty of experience playing many of his 150 games at Senior level.
Josh Hoevenaars has also been named Co Vice Captain, and has played over 100 games since joining the Club in 2010. He has spent most of his career in the ruck for the Seniors, and will look to lead the midfield group throughout 2017.
Rupert Kemp will again be part of the Leadership Group, having cemented his spot in the Senior side in the last two years. Rupert leads a tight-knit defensive unit from the backline, and uses his footy nouse and voice to guide his teammates throughout games.
Tom Balcombe and Scott Dixon are both new members into the Leadership Group, having joined the Club last year and this year respectively. Both players are highly skilled and have plenty of experience playing at high levels. We look forward to seeing the leadership they bring to the group this year as we look to push hard into September in Premier C.
