Old Geelong Win 2nd Flag
Division 1 Grand Final
The Old Geelong 1st XI has won their 2nd Hector Donahue Trophy winning the Division 1 Grand Final against Old Scotch 1st XI.
The game was played on the Scotch College Main Oval and after being sent in the OGs made 188 with Angus Boyd making a brilliant 93. Angus was well supported by Tim Bayles (23) and Will Langley (24).
James Ratcliffe (3 for 28), Joel Blain (2 for 17) and Angus Boyd (2 for 25) were the pick of the bowlers as Scotch were bowled out for 143 in reply.
Division 3 Grand Final
In Division 3 the Old Geelong 2nd XI were also playing in a Grand Final on the Melville Oval behind the Scotch Main Oval, against rival team Old Trinity Grammar. Again the OGs batted first and despite solid scores from Nick Abbott (49) and Johnny McDonald (41), they could only manage 8 for 144.
Chris McSween opened the bowling and bowled without luck (0 for 32), while Roly Imhoff bowled their opener at the other end and had their number 3 caught well by Johnny McDonald after he tried one to many times to hit him to cow corner. But a solid partnership from Liam McCopping and Will Balme put Trinity back on top until Trevor Maggs fired up clean bowling Balme and their number 5 batsman and then Rohan McCarthy showed his experience keeping cool and running out McCoppin.
Unfortunately though we were probably around 30 to 40 runs short and so hats off to Old Trinity who out played us.
It's been an excellent season for both teams especially for the 1st XI who have been really well lead by Henry Weddell.
