OGS Netball Scores Round 6
Richmond Netball Club
We ran onto the court firing this week, scoring the first two goals of the match against the Misfits. However, we were later challenged by a solid defensive display. Millie Faulkner, Katrina Toone, Josie Giuliano, Becky Ingleton and Georgie Perrignon all rotated through goaling positions, fighting valiantly to hold their position under the ring. Unfortunately, the Misfits took the lead in the second quarter and we were unable to hold on. After three games we are beginning to gel together as a team and can only look forward to next week as we continue to improve!
A tough game started for OGS green on Monday night. The opposing team looked athletic, strong and tall. We started off very well with constant goals, winning the first 3 quarters by 2 points. Gemma’s constant guidance down the court is always appreciated and Kaitlin’s quick pace along with Annabelle’s height was used well in the goal circle. Judy’s small and cuteness is very deceiving as she absolutely killed the GD position the whole game, stealing some awesome intercepts and rebounds, using Arabella, Maddie and Lucy to get it down the court. Unfortunately, we lost the plot in the last quarter losing by 3 points.
Best Player: Judy

This week’s top of the table clash against the Dimes fuelled some healthy competitiveness from the girls. With a few players battling the winter colds, we were down to 7 to show them just how good we are. Sharp deflections from the long limbs of Annabel Rafferty and Em Fyffe provided the important turnovers that allowed Ally Kirkwood, Jess Sleigh and Lucy Codyre to bring the ball down the court into attack swiftly. Good movement around the goal circle enabled accurate shooting that pushed us further into the lead. The Dimes having no response to our great teamwork and agility, we came away with the well deserved win against top of the ladder!
Final Score: Win 26-12
On the 17th August OGS Red had their first win of the season! It was a more exciting game than others, as we played against fellow OGS team, OGS Black. Despite not having our full team available, we made use of our fill ins and we all had a go at new positions. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we look forward to next weeks game! Shout outs to Arabella Fox for a stella performance on the court.
The most recent game saw OGS Black start to play as a team instead of individuals. Our netball skills have improved a lot with cleaner passes and improved shooting accuracy. Although we were playing the other OGS Red, we seemed to player better then previous weeks. We are learning to read each other well which allows for less errors and turnovers. By now, we know who works well in which positions and are learning to take advantage of our strengths. Best players on the court go to Hattie Davenport and Issy Greed.
