The notion of ‘sustainable development’ is fundamental to the Old Geelong philosophy with relation to football, netball, cricket, community projects and personal relationships.
The Old Geelong Sporting Club aspires to consistently contribute in meaningful ways to the immediate and broader community. This is a fundamental aspect of the club. We focus on the development of individuals and our club both from a sporting and humanitarian perspective. Our club has a broad range of people in age, background and interests. Therefore it is important that we constantly explore better ways of engaging with each other and the community.
At the centre of the Club’s success has been a strong sense of community spirit, both within the local area of Stonnington and outside through the extended family in and beyond Geelong.
The generosity of many of our fantastic players and supporters has meant that our fundraising pursuits in recent years have been of great success. We as a Club have focused on assisting in areas which can make a real difference to the support work of organizations and people who give of themselves for the betterment of the broader community.
In recent years the OGFC have assisted with:
- Willaura Bushfire Appeal (2006)
- Leukemia World’s Greatest Shave (2007)
- Cancer - Call To Arms Fundraiser (2009)
- Movember - Supporting Mens Health (2011-2013)
- Prahran Mission (2012-Present)
- SecondBite (2013-Present)
- Clean Up Australia (2014-Present)
- Herring Island (2017)
